Dina's Hummingbird

This is part of the Dina's sunflower series. One day I was gathering some sunflowers for an arrangement. This little hummingbird flew in within a foot of me and stayed for the longest time. I believe that it was the spirit of my sister telling me she liked my sunflower garden that I planted in her honor.

Magnolia

Many years ago I brought home a small seedling southern Magnolia from my son's grade school field trip to Washington, DC area. We live in Pennsylvania and these are not native to our area. It has survived many harsh winters (including this year!). Took probably eight years for it to bloom but we now get such lovely large fragrant blooms in June. This one of the first blooms from this year.

Trying out some new colors on my palette, Caribean Blue, Permanent Rose, Cadmium Orange and Dioxazine Purple. They worked great for this amazing sunset view in Brigantine. I'm not sure they will take up permanent residence on my palette though.

I've always loved the colors in this photo I took of a bunch of buoys hanging on someones porch in Key West. The contrast of the buoys against the neutral color of the porch siding.

Mom's Violets

SOLD

My mother loved her violet plants. When she passed away I inherited this one. It has flourished and even had babies that I repotted and gifted to my friends and family. This is the mother plant and it has continually bloomed with these amazing clusters of purple blossoms over the past three years.

Kate in the Sand

This is taken from a photo of my daughter playing in the sand when she was about 4, that I've always loved. We were vacationing in Kitty Hawk and we were at the sounds. She was totally engrossed in pouring the sand on to her knee and watching it pile.

Inspired by an old photo of my mother and brother. The photo really captures the love of a mother for her child. Original photo was black and white so I played with the colors.
