I've been reading about Henry Hensche and his approach to painting. Feel like my head as about to explode trying to figure it out.

For the past couple weeks I've been listening to some podcasts while working, in particular the Savvy Painter (and loving it). Was listening to the episode with Camille Przewodek and they were talking about color notes, color of the impressionists and in particular the teachings of Henry Hensche who she studied under. WOW! I googled their work and what a breath of fresh air, just beautiful. Well this painting is very much influenced by them. Wish it was truer to them, have so much to learn. Such a hard concept - it's boggling my mind right now!

Maybe someday I can take one of Camille's workshops….vbg

I've been wanting to set up a still life using a shadow box. Love paintings where the things emerge from the darkness. I'm pretty happy with this one. Hope to do more of these!

In honor of all the white stuff in the northeast, I decided to paint some white things! Found this cute teapot at the Goodwill store.

I'm back!! Can't believe I've been absent from here since the fall. Was busy with a lot of commissioned pet portraits. They are posted on my Facebook page debsavopaintings if your interested in taking a peek :).

I'd like to concentrate on some still lives this year. Rearranged the studio from being an art directors office to a real artist studio, including a new easel!

Above is my first still life on it.

Mom's Violets

SOLD

My mother loved her violet plants. When she passed away I inherited this one. It has flourished and even had babies that I repotted and gifted to my friends and family. This is the mother plant and it has continually bloomed with these amazing clusters of purple blossoms over the past three years.
